As a Volunteer Centre, we promote and enable volunteering to take place in Dorset. We support charitable organisations to advertise their roles and match them up with volunteers. As a volunteer, we will support you to find the perfect role and if you need any additional training or DBS checks, we can also support you with this.
The staff at the Volunteer Centre have an extensive knowledge of volunteering in the local community, which makes us the first point of call for volunteers and charitable organisations.
Volunteering can take any shape or form – so whether you want to support the environment with conservation, get active with some children’s sporting activities, care for the elderly or disabled, or get practical with dry stone walling – we have the perfect volunteering role for you!
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a big commitment, you can give as much or as little as you like. ‘Micro-volunteering’ involves just volunteering an hour here and there. We understand that everyone has different schedules and so volunteering can fit around you – school runs, family, friends, work, college, all vital parts of our lives and volunteering doesn’t have to impact on these. You also don’t have to sign up for months of volunteering, there are lots of one-off opportunities to choose from such as volunteering at a festival for just one weekend.
So why volunteer? Well, that’s up to you! People volunteer for lots of different reasons such as to gain work experience, to support mental health, to meet new people, to get more involved in helping your community, or just because you’re bored! No matter your motivation for volunteering, we have every role to suit your schedule, ability, and passion.
