Dr Martin Yelling is the CEO of children’s mental health charity stormbreak (stormbreak.org.uk). Stormbreak is a national organisation with its roots firmly in Dorset. Martin leads the strategic development, governance, scale and growth of stormbreak and understands the VCS sector purpose, challenges and landscape. He wants to see the VCS valued, recognised, heard, integrated and supported to contribute positively to the health and lives of the people of Dorset.
Martin has a range of experience both within and outside of the charity sector. For 20 years he ran a coaching consultancy specialising in performance, behaviour change and grassroots development in endurance sports. He has worked with Virgin, BBC, adidas, Strava, Garmin, GSK, NSPCC, Oxfam, Alzheimer’s Research and many others. Martin founded the successful podcast, Marathon Talk with over 14million downloads its now part of the Abbott Marathon World Majors family.
Martin has a PhD and a post doc from Loughborough University in effective professional development and learning and has worked as teacher and lecturer in schools and universities. A former international athlete Martin is married to two-time Olympic marathon runner and Commonwealth Games medallist Liz Yelling and they live in Dorset with their 3 children.
