Ken Heap

Vice Chair, Governance Board

Ken is one of two vice chairs for the Dorset VCSA Governance Board with particular responsibility for governance and risk.

Ken has had a wide-ranging career, working for thirty years as a senior police detective and internationally with government agencies at a senior level. This was followed by a career with a blue-chip multinational company as head of strategic development and then global head of intelligence. Eventually, he founded an international risk company.

His passion has always been in creating successful partnerships which has always been at the forefront of his board-level membership across the voluntary sector. This contribution extends over two decades and includes working with the Sue Ryder and Leonard Cheshire hospices, the Ministry of Justice Dorset Magistrates Advisory Committee, the Dorset Race Equality Council and ten years as Chair of the Board of Dorset MIND.

Ken has degrees in Politics and Social Policy and Criminology.
