Update on Families First for Children Pathfinder Programme

19th September 2024

Thank you to those who submitted applications to Dorset Council for the Best Start in Life project grants that closed on Sunday 8 September. We had an excellent level of interest, and we are grateful for all the work that you put in to meeting the deadline.

The evaluation of the first-round applications is ongoing, and initial awards will be made by Friday 20 September.

The Community and Parent-led Support grants have opened for a second round with a closing date of 11.59pm on Sunday 6th October. There is up to 10K available per project to develop the provision of community and peer lead support activities in the main family hub sites across Dorset, focussing on

  • Parent/carer confidence in supporting baby/child development, including the home learning environment.
  • Early language acquisition
  • Social capital and creating networks of support

If you have local projects that you think might be eligible for these grants, then you are encouraged to apply.  Please do get in touch if you would like to talk any of these through or need further information on the second round.
