Dorset Council was selected last year by the Government to be one of only three pathfinder organisations to design major reforms to children’s services, from family help to the edge of care, and to make sure these changes work well for families. This programme is known as Families First for Children (FFC) pathfinder programme.
Dorset’s Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly is extremely pleased to be partnering with our colleagues at Dorset Council in the development of the Family First for Children pathfinder programme in Dorset. Together we are helping to shape the future of community support for Families in the Dorset Council area. The Assembly will be facilitating the involvement and contribution of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in this programme, bringing together the innovation, creativity, and local expertise of the VCS as a vital foundation for the success of this work.
Background
The FFC pathfinder programme was announced in February 2023 as part of the government’s children’s social care implementation strategy, stable homes, built on love.
It responds to recommendations from the Independent review of children’s social care, the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel report on child protection in England and the Competitions and Market Authority’s market study of children’s social care provision. The pathfinder will test delivery of key strategy commitments.
Further information about the rollout of the pilot FFC pathfinder programme can be Dorset council website here, along with further information about the available grants here.
What next?
At present we have a number of project partners implementing the FFC pathfinder programme in Dorset, facilitated by the Assembly (VCSA). Once we receive these updates, we look forward to sharing them with the wider VCS and all stakeholders across our communication channels and official news releases.
